The peak of the Boktai trilogy — and in many ways the most complete game in the series. Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django picks up directly after the first game’s events. Django arrives back in San Miguel to find a mysterious vampire has stolen his Gun del Sol and used it against him. Left with only a solar-powered glove, he must work with a new cast of characters — a gunsmith-turned-blacksmith, a spirited young girl, a Native American guardsman — to hunt down the Immortals of the Black Dainn and prevent the release of Jormungandr, the Doomsday Beast.
Where Boktai 1 established the concept, Boktai 2 refined and deepened it in every direction. The solar sensor and RTC return fully intact — sunlight still charges your energy, the weather in-game reflects real conditions outside, and overcast days genuinely make the Immortals harder and more dangerous. New to Boktai 2 is Solar Forging: combine two weapons under sunlight to create a more powerful one, imbued with the sun’s energy. An expanded weapon system adds swords, spears and hammers alongside the returning solar gun. New RPG elements let you raise Django’s stats and equip gear. A Solar Bank lets you store energy for darker days — or take out Dark Loans at a price, with consequences if you don’t pay them back in time.
Four different endings depending on your choices and performance add genuine replay value to an adventure already celebrated for its Morricone-inspired soundtrack and beautiful chiaroscuro sprite work.
