Yu-Gi-Oh! Monster Capsule GB – The Japan-Only Strategy RPG, Finally in English

Before the Duel Monsters card game dominated the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, the original manga featured a variety of games and tournaments — including Monster Capsules, miniature creatures used in tactical arena battles. Monster Capsule GB brings that rarely seen corner of the YGO universe to Game Boy Color, and it never left Japan. Until now.

This cartridge features a complete English fan translation by Bownly (v1.1), making the full game accessible to Western players for the first time on real hardware. The story picks up in the aftermath of the DEATH-T arc: Seto Kaiba, defeated and broken, lures Yugi and his friends to Duel Tower — captures their souls in clay dolls, and forces Yugi to fight through a tournament to save them. Familiar faces from across the series appear as tournament opponents.

Gameplay is a tactical RPG on a 6×6 grid. Each Monster Capsule (MC) moves one space per turn and attacks with a unique pattern — some strike in a straight line, others in diagonal or wide formations. Position and formation matter; a poorly arranged team can drag a battle on for dozens of extra turns.
