Telefang: Power Version (English Translation) – The Companion Version to the Game Behind “Pokémon Jade”
Keitai Denjuu Telefang was released in two versions in Japan in 2000 — Power and Speed — structured much like a Pokémon version pair, with different Denjuu available in each and both designed to be played and traded between. In the West, they became infamous for an entirely different reason: bootleg cartridges relabelled Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Jade flooded flea markets and pawn shops, giving most Western players their only exposure to Telefang through some of the worst bootleg translations ever produced. The real games were entirely unknown.
This is the Power Version — the companion to Speed — and after 16 years of work, the Telefang.net team has finally delivered a complete English translation covering both halves of the original release. Power Version brings its own set of Denjuu encounters and story beats to the same world of cell-phone monster battles, Saiko Takaki creature designs, and Kinuyo Yamashita’s acclaimed soundtrack.
This cartridge ships with the latest beta (v160), with the full translation treatment: all text in English including the title screen voiceover, bug fixes from the original game, longer nicknames, improved name entry, no-RTC mode, restored Super Game Boy borders with full colour, and multiple variable-width fonts with automatic text narrowing.
