Where the original Platinum was held back by limited Pokémon availability and a gentle difficulty curve, Renegade Platinum addresses both with surgical precision — while adding an extraordinary amount of new content, quality-of-life improvements, and modern game design sensibilities that make it feel years ahead of its time.
🎮 What sets Renegade Platinum apart:
All 493 Pokémon are obtainable in a single save file, the majority of them catchable before your first Elite Four run. Wild encounter tables across every area have been completely rebuilt with Pokémon from the National Dex, and unique scripted events ensure that starters and legendaries still feel special when you find them.
The Fairy-type from Generation 6 has been fully implemented — replacing the unused ??? type — with all Pokémon typing, base stats, and abilities updated to match their Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon versions. Pokémon like Clefairy, Ralts, and Togekiss now play exactly as you’d expect from modern games. Many weaker Pokémon have also received targeted stat buffs, new abilities, and type changes to make them genuinely viable.
Every Gym Leader and Elite Four member now battles with a full team of six Pokémon, complete with custom movesets, held items, and carefully chosen natures. The Elite Four and Champion go even further — each randomly selects from four possible teams per fight, making it impossible to prepare a cheese strategy in advance.
No trade evolutions. Every Pokémon that previously required trading now evolves through an in-game item or at a specific level, making this a fully self-contained playthrough on a single cartridge.
Infinite TMs — each one grants 99 copies, reshuffled across the world so they’re accessible through natural exploration. Six HMs have been completely removed as barriers: Cut trees, Strength boulders, Rock Smash rocks, fog, and darkness are all gone, so your team slots are yours to use freely.
The shiny rate has been raised to 1/512 by default — still rare, but meaningfully more likely to yield a shiny encounter during a normal playthrough.
Dozens of new events and NPCs bring Sinnoh to life: an Eevee from your mother early in the game, a Lapras with a story behind it in Pastoria City, Steven Stone settled in Oreburgh City offering a Beldum, and much more. Mythical Pokémon like Mew, Celebi, and Arceus are all obtainable through in-game events without any event distributions.
Quality-of-life touches are everywhere: nature stat boosts displayed on the stat screen, instant egg hatching, all 25 Pokétch apps from the start, free Move Tutors, guaranteed fishing encounters, instant Honey Tree results, and a training NPC in Solaceon Town for fast leveling and EV training.
