Lemmings needs little introduction. DMA Design’s 1991 masterpiece — guide a procession of oblivious little creatures from their entry point to the exit, assigning them one of eight skills to dig, climb, build, block, and blast their way through increasingly devious obstacle courses — is one of the most ported, most beloved, and most recognisable puzzle games ever made. This GBA fan conversion by Zapf Bandit brings the original experience to Nintendo’s handheld with all the original graphics, sounds, and music intact.
The full eight-skill toolkit is available: Climbers scale vertical walls, Floaters survive any drop, Bombers sacrifice themselves to clear a path, Blockers halt the herd, Builders lay diagonal staircases, Bashers drill horizontally, Miners dig diagonally downward, and Diggers bore straight through the floor. Managing your limited supply of each skill against a level’s specific layout is the puzzle — and it’s as satisfying on a GBA screen as it ever was on an Amiga or DOS machine.
