Doom II GBA PC Total Conversion v1.3.1 – The Official Port, Restored to Its PC Glory
id Software’s Doom II did make it to the Game Boy Advance — but the official 2002 port arrived censored, with altered graphics and a texture renderer that turned distant surfaces into blurry solid colours. Kippykip’s PC Total Conversion fixes all of that. Version 1.3.1 replaces every sprite, palette, texture, and flat in the GBA ROM with assets drawn as closely as possible from the original DOS PC release, restoring the blood, the correct enemy appearances, and the full visual identity of the classic 1994 game to Nintendo’s handheld.
The rendering improvement alone is worth noting: the official GBA port relied purely on bilinear filtering, which caused far-away textures to wash out into uniform blocks of colour. This conversion applies a combined nearest-neighbour and bilinear approach that preserves texture detail at distance — a technical fix that makes the corridors of Hell actually look like corridors rather than abstract smears.
The store’s Doom 1 GBA PC Total Conversion covers the first game with the same treatment. If you’re building out a definitive GBA shooter shelf, both belong on it. Doom II brings the Super Shotgun, the expanded demon roster, and 32 levels of Hell on Earth — all now looking exactly as they should.
