Donkey Kong Land 1 DX – A Full GBC Upgrade That Adds More Than Just Color
Donkey Kong Land arrived in 1995 riding the momentum of Donkey Kong Country’s stunning SNES debut. Rare took their pre-rendered 3D graphics and compressed them onto a Game Boy cartridge, delivering a portable platformer with DK and Diddy tearing through jungles, ship decks, and icy peaks. It was an impressive technical achievement — but like everything on the original Game Boy, it shipped without color.
Donkey Kong Land 1 DX by SpecialAgentApe (v1.0.1) — the creator behind the Mega Man World DX series — goes well beyond a standard colorization. The full GBC conversion is here, but so is a set of new features that enrich the experience in ways the original never offered.
