In the 1990s, Nintendo struck a deal with Philips that would produce three of the most infamous games in Zelda history. Among them was Zelda’s Adventure — the only top-down action-adventure of the trio, and the one that always had the most potential. Now, thanks to a passionate homebrew developer, that potential has finally been realized with a full port to the Game Boy and Game Boy Color.
The Age of Darkness has fallen upon Hyrule. Ganon has captured Link — and this time, it’s Princess Zelda who must rise as the hero. Guided by the royal astronomer Gaspra and the mysterious Shurmak, she must venture deep into the uncharted region of Tolemac, collect the seven Celestial Signs stolen by Ganon, and face the dark lord himself to bring Hyrule back into the Age of Lightness.
This homebrew port stays true to the aesthetics of Link’s Awakening while borrowing features from Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons, making it feel right at home alongside the official Zelda titles on Game Boy. Latest version 2.1.0 (2025), now with multilanguage support.
